​These paintings are based on a series of family photographs from the artist’s family taken around the 1970s, they mesh cultures, times and settings intertwining to create a painted space that depicts the complex nature of diasporic identities, reunion and separation and distance between families. It plays with the notion of familial constellations with ancestors painted into the walls that the central figures seem unaware of. These paintings capture intimate glimpses into domestic life, looking at a mother-daughter relationship.
